Embroidered Inflatables
Once considered an embellishment technique, embroidery is moving textile design in new directions.
Once considered an embellishment technique, embroidery is moving textile design in new directions! Embroidered Inflatables are part of a research through design that investigates how creating silicone-based inflatables whose design and behavior are determined by machine embroidered textiles. We developed five sample series that explore different parameters to the fabrication and the interaction possibilities of soft actuators. The resulting interaction modes enable the creation of a wide range of shapes and behaviors through layering of textile structures.
