Respiratory monitoring for Newborn Life Support(NLS) training
Proper oxygenation of the newborn is essential after birth.
Proper oxygenation of the newborn is essential after birth. Medical practitioners undergo extensive training in newborn life support (NLS) skills using simulation-based training, however the manikins used lack physical and functional fidelity. We integrated a data-gathering tool into the manikin’s respiratory system to visualize data in real-time, giving the trainer an overview of the simulation. The final device aims to improve the airway management skills retention of medical personnel and lead to a reduction in severe repercussions from birth asphyxia in newborns.
