Speculative Design & Philosophy: The community of Symbiosis

Many scientists describe the current era as the ’Anthropocene’, an era in which human domination in processes and behavior is central. This results in the many severe environmental, economic and social crises that we currently face. But, can we use technology to create and maintain collaborations with nonhuman others? In the speculative ’Community of Symbiosis’, humans use artificial skin technologies like ‘human gills’ to amplify the connection with a nonhuman species. This project deliberately provokes us to rethink our behavior by showing that we can do things differently.
