FORSEE

Video monitoring FOR early Signaling of adverse EvEnts

Anyone who’s ever been in hospital will recognize this: nurses and doctors at your bedside doing regular checks on your vital signs. This is an intensive process for both hospital staff and patients. FORSEE can ease this workload while making monitoring more comfortable and effective.
The FORSEE project encompasses a video monitoring system that uses a smart camera to detect a patient’s heartbeat. Other functions can be added, such as measuring breathing rate, oxygen levels and temperature. A nurse then no longer needs to do this manually, and the monitoring is continuous. A major advantage is that any changes to the patient’s condition can be detected and acted upon immediately. The system is currently being tested in the ICU at Eindhoven Catharina Hospital.
