Prolifex
A new and stronger life for plastic waste
From the plastic film surrounding packs of Coke bottles to fruit and vegetable packaging: 35% of our household packaging waste is made up of thin plastic. We throw away about 190 million kilos of this plastic annually – more than 10 kilos per person in the Netherlands. Ideally, we want to do our best to prevent it ending up in the incinerator or in our nature. Currently, our ability to recycle this flexible plastic is limited; it’s difficult to sort and clean. So, most of what’s reused is the thicker/heavier packaging.
Prolifex makes the reuse of lightweight plastic films possible. Here you see a compost bag made of high-quality and extremely strong packaging material. And more is possible. Currently we’re talking to the companies responsible for waste and packaging reuse for more solutions like these.
Van het draagplastic om colaflessen tot verpakkingen van groente en fruit: 35 procent van ons huishoudelijke verpakkingsafval bestaat uit plastic folies. Jaarlijks gooien we zo’n 190 miljoen kilo van dit plastic weg – meer dan 10 kilo per Nederlander. En liefst voorkomen we dat het in de verbrandingsoven of de natuur terechtkomt. Recyclen van dit flexibel plastic is tot nu toe nog beperkt; het is lastig te sorteren en schoon te maken bijvoorbeeld. Hergebruik van plastic richt zich meer op zware, dikke verpakkingen.
Prolifex laat voor het eerst zien hoe je ook lichte plastic folies succesvol kunt hergebruiken. Zie hier: de compostzak van hoogwaardig en oer sterk verpakkingsmateriaal. Met doorontwikkeling met de betrokken bedrijven uit de afval- en verpakkingsketen, ontstaat een scala aan mogelijkheden.
