Knitting Mutations

These samples are the result of knitter-machine-yarn-pattern assemblages. We have integrated a simple evolutionary algorithm to explore how patterns could hybrid. Although the program could generate thousands of hybrid patterns within minutes, the generated pattern itself does not directly inform the final textile. The materiality of yarns also plays an important role. In this loop, the algorithm needs both human and knitting machine to perform the task in order to reveal the full information of the generated results.
